Treaty Inquiry Booklet
Ask, research, do! This resource has been created for students to do a research based inquiry into understanding what a treaty is and use the knowledge and understanding they gain to create some classroom and school based treaties.
This has been made to compliment Treaty of Waitangi resources by allowing students to research and understand a treaty.
General questions provided for the students to research and answer include: what is a treaty, who is involved, what are the types of treaties, why do countries sign treaties, what is the process, why are treaties important, why do countries need treaties.
These questions are all written so they can be typed into google in order to find the answer.
To finish the research part of the inquiry, the students then focus back on the Treaty of Waitangi specifically. The goal is that by having a greater understanding of a treaty, they will have a deeper understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and it’s importance.
10 pages of Questions and Research.
After the research, it is time to do! The students can then create some classroom and school based treaties. Included are some examples of treaties and a template for the students to create their own.
